Building
quiet machines
for loud ideas.

I'm Francesco — software architect and entrepreneur by vocation. For fifteen years I've translated complexity into invisible infrastructure, moving along the thin line where cutting-edge engineering meets the vision of business.

I design and lead the systems where value — money, art, or trust — flows fluidly across blockchains, AI agents, and the messy edges of reality. I love to build the technological silence that lets great visions resonate.

01  /  About

I build systems. Sometimes they become companies.

— A short letter

I don't think technology changes the world — I think people do. Technology only changes what people are able to do together.

For fifteen years I've worked along that fault line. I design and build the systems — the quiet ones, made of code, infrastructure, contracts and trust — that let other people's ideas move. Sometimes those systems stay systems. Sometimes they grow shoulders and become companies.

Some of that happened under Byte Me, my personal workshop for almost a decade. Some through companies I cofounded — like KMN, where I'm still a partner and external collaborator. Some through teams I joined for a while and helped move forward. Different rooms, same craft.

"I'm interested in the moment where an idea stops being an opinion and becomes a system."

I started as an engineer and kept slipping into the entrepreneur chair. Probably because I care less about software itself, and more about what software makes possible: behavior, then culture, then — quietly — the future.

Right now I'm building the next thing. Not because the world needs another startup, but because there are still things worth making real. Something from here. The kind we'd be proud to put made in Italy on.

Now
Consulting across teams that keep me curious — while quietly building the next thing in the background. Looking for people who care less about startups, and more about building something that deserves to exist.

KMN Cofounder · still a partner today

Cofounded KMN — an engineering & AI studio partnering with organizations on web systems, AI platforms and remote engineering teams. I later left to start a venture of my own; still a partner and external collaborator today. Across the studio: enterprise, startups and local projects — Regione Campania, MaticMind, and a long tail of Italian and international clients.

Byte Me Freelance label · three years independent

The name I freelanced under — a personal bench through which I delivered work for teams big and small. Three years across full-stack engineering, blockchain, security and partial-CTO mandates — from web platforms and enterprise software for Lottomatica and IBM partners, to smart contracts behind tokens in the global top-10 by market cap.

Vento CTO in Residence · tokenization of illiquid assets

Six months at the helm of a Turin-based incubation: platform architecture, security, and the conversations with mentors who'd seen this movie before. Quiet, decisive, careful work on tokenizing illiquid assets.

RINA Software Engineer & R&D · rail, energy, defense, certification

Three very different worlds in one badge — under one of the world's largest certification and engineering consultancy groups. R&D on blockchain-based digital certification: making certificates verifiable, tamper-proof and portable across organizations. In parallel: onboard rail IoT for Hitachi, real-time voice analytics for Enel, and the backend of a military defense e-commerce platform for NATO.

SOFTLAB Software Engineer · media R&D

Architected AlmaCult — a cultural portal for Campania with VR-enabled museum environments. Built AlmaVideo, a full-stack video streaming platform with upload, transcoding and storage. Two very different rooms, one year.

Endow Software Engineer · institutional clients

Years of institutional-grade software for clients that move the country quietly: scalable infrastructure for INPS, data-analysis platforms for INAIL, an IBM × Ispettorato del Lavoro labor-inspection system, geo-targeting tools for Jakala. Big systems, small joys.

Grimaldi Group IT Purser · at sea

Three years of running onboard IT across European routes — networks, comms, crew training, upgrades. A school for resilience: when the satellite link drops, you fix it with what's on the boat.

— and before all of this, earlier chapters at small companies, learning the trade through security analysis, pen-testing, databases and data viz for IoT systems. Plus a long tail of smaller engagements over the years — audits, advisory, partial-CTO tours, indie startups and founders' first lines of code — that don't fit on this page, but built me just as much.

What I bring to the table.

— a working portrait of the disciplines I move between. The first row is where I lead. The second is where I build. They're not separable.

Leadership01

Where the company gets shaped.

  • Tech strategy & roadmaps
  • Architecture review
  • Hiring & mentoring
  • Stakeholder alignment
Founding02

From 0 to 1, then keeping the 1 alive.

  • Cofounding & cap table
  • Product positioning
  • Fundraising conversations
  • First-hire instinct

  • Team structure & ops
  • Vendor & partner selection
  • The "is this the right rewrite" call
Architecture04

Drawing the system before writing it.

  • Distributed systems design
  • Domain modeling
  • Trade-off frameworks
  • Documentation that survives
AI & Agents05

Where most of the new energy lives.

  • LLM agents & orchestration
  • Retrieval-augmented systems
  • Decentralized / on-chain agents
